FUNNY MONKEY

Crochet pattern. Difficulty easy.

Abbreviations (US terms)

mr – magic ring (crochet n single crochet stitches into the adjustable loop)

st(s) – stitch(es)

ch – chain stitch

sc – single crochet stitch

inc – increase (make two sc from the same st)

inc3 – make three sc from the same st

dec – decrease (crochet two st together)

dec3 – crochet three st together

sl st– slip stitch

Materials and tools you will need:

1) Main yarn Alize “Cotton Gold” (55% cotton, 45% acrylic, 100g/330m) color №67 – light beige or some other you like

Yarn clothing: Yarn Art Jeans (55% cotton, 45% acrylic, 50g/160m) milky №01, yellow №35, green №29, crimson №42

The toy is 25 cm tall (9.8 inches) using the materials mentioned above. You can use the same pattern to make smaller or larger toy by using finer or bulkier yarn.

To avoid small holes use a smaller crochet hook.

2) White thin yarn for the eyes (Vita “Pelican”) or white felt

3) Brown embroidery thread for the mouth and nose, black for the eyelashes

4) Size 2.5 mm crochet hook (US size 1/B)

5) Stuffing (Polyester fiberfill)

6) 2 black half beads (I used 8 mm in diameter)

7) Black embroidery thread for the eyelashes and nose

8) Dry pastels for toning cheeks

9) Super glue for gluing eye.

10) Tapestry needle

11) Dressmaker pins

Note: Do not join rounds, work in a continuous spiral. All stitches are worked into both loops, unless instructed otherwise in the pattern.

So, let’s begin!

First came the shoes …))) Yes! This fun cute monkey was born with sneakers. So, we start crocheting it with them.

Legs (make2):

Yarn milky

Ch 10.

1) Start in 2nd st from hook, sc in next 8 sts, 3 sc in next st.

We continue on the opposite side of the foundation ch, sc in 7 st, inc. (20)

2) Inc., 7 sc, inc., 1 sc., inc., 7 sc, inc., 1 sc (24)

When you will crochet last stitch in 2nd round change yarn to yellow

3) This round work with the back loops only. sc in each st.

4) 10 sc, dec3, 11 sc (22)

5) 9 sc, dec3, 10 sc (20)

6) 8 sc, dec3, 9 sc (18)

7) 7 sc, dec3, 6 sc, dec. (15)

8) (3 sc, dec) x 3 (12)

When you will crochet last stitch in 8th round, change yarn to light beige. Leave a tail of yellow thread 40 cm long. Pull it out.

9) Work light beige with the back loops only. sc in each st (12)

10-21) 12 rounds sc in each st

Go back to the tail of yellow thread. Crochet round sc each st, grab front loops in 9th row.

22) We continue to crochet light beige. This round work with the back loops only. sc in each st (12)

When you will crochet last stitch in 32nd round, change yarn to green

Crochet 13 more sc.

Stuff the legs. You don’t need to stuff in the knee (on the width of the thumb).You don’t need to stuff at the top of the leg as well. Hold the legs and crochet them opposed stitches together with the slipstitches.

Head:

Take light beige

Start stuffing the head

Start stuffing the body

Leave a tail of crimson thread 45 cm long. Pull it out.

Crochet 5 more sc, sl.st

Cut the yarn, leaving a long yarn tail

Stuff the body.

Go back to the tail of crimson thread. Crochet round sc each st, grab front loops in 26th row.

Mark the center of the head in 14th round (this place, we will sew the eye). Put a pin in the middle of the head. Sew the head to the neck. Make sure to be exactly.

Arms (make 2)

Take light beige

1) mr, 6 sc (6)

2) 6 inc. (12)

3-5) 3 rounds sc in each st

6) inc3 x 2, 10 sc (16)

7) sc in each st (16)

8) dec3 x 2, 10 sc (12)

9)(dec., 4 sc) x 2 (10)

Stuff the palm.

10-27) 18 rounds sc in each st

Change yarn crimson.

28-32) 5 rounds sc in each st

Stuff the arms. You don’t need to stuff at the top of the arm on the width of the thumb. Hold the arms and sew them opposed with the sl.sts together

Ears (make 2)

Take light beige

1) mr, 6 sc (6)

2) 6 inc. (12)

3) (1 sc, inc.) x 6 (18)

4) (2 sc, inc.) x 6 (24)

Make sl.st in the next st., ch. Turn the ear.

Make edge reverse sc around. Cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.

Tail:

1) mr, 6 sc (6)

2) (inc, 1 sc) x 3 (9)

3-38) 36 rounds sc in each st

Stuff the tail lightly.

Hold the tail and sew them opposed with the sl.sts together. Cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.

Assembling:

1. Sew the legs, departing on 4 sts on each side of the mr.

2. Sew the arm, stepping down from one row from the collar.

3. Crochet two circles of white yarn:

1) mr, 6 sc (6)

2) 6 inc. (12)

3) (1 sc, inc.) x 6 (18)

Cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.

Sew circles to the head.

Or! Cut circle out of white felt and sew or glue them to the body

Find a place and attach black half beads. Glue them. Wait until the glue dries. Black thread embroider lashes.

4. Sew ears. Width between the ears 8-9 sts.

5. Brown thread embroider nose and mouth. To embroider the mouth, first make a line, grabbing villus on the head. Then wrap the thread around the line, while also grabbing villus on the head

6. Sew tail.

7. Straps: take green yarn and make two ch 30.

Sew the straps to shorts. Fix them on the shoulders.

8. Take dry pastel and make cheeks lightly.
