Tentacles

Make 60 chains, then in each chain work 3 sc.

Repeat this same process 6 more times to have 7 tentacles in total.

Attaching the tentacles

The tentacles must be attached with a distance of 4 to 5 stitches between each one.

I recommend placing some pins where you intend to attach each tentacle to check if the spacing is proportional between all 7 tentacles.

When finished, it should look like the image shown.

Eyes and assembly

Place the safety eyes between rounds 13 and 14, with 8 stitches between them.

You can already give expression to your octopus by embroidering details on the eyes, mouth, and cheeks (embroidery is optional).

We will also take this moment to attach the tentacles so we avoid sewing at the end.

The tentacles will be attached between rounds 5 and 6.

Using the crochet hook, pass one strand of the tentacle through one stitch and the other strand through the next stitch, leaving both strands inside the piece.

Then make 3 knots to secure the tentacle well and cut off the excess yarn.

Continuing the head

20: 8 sc, dec, (16 sc, dec) 2x, 8 sc (51)

21: (15 sc, dec) 3x (48)

22: 7 sc, dec, (14 sc, dec) 2x, 7 sc (45)

23: (13 sc, dec) 3x (42)

24: (5 sc, dec) 6x (36)

25: 2 sc, dec, (4 sc, dec) 5x, 2 sc (30)

26: (3 sc, dec) 6x (24)

Add stuffing.

27: 1 sc, dec, (2 sc, dec) 5x, 1 sc (18)

28: (1 sc, dec) 6x (12)

29: 4 dec (8)

Add more stuffing to finish, close with an inverted magic ring and fasten off.

Ruffle detail

Now we will make the ruffle detail in the loops left exposed from round 7.

Insert the hook into the first loop and work the following sequence:

(1 sc, 3 dc in the same stitch, 1 sc, 1 sl st).

Repeat this sequence 10 more times and fasten off.
