– Marker or thread of a contrasting color (thread is more convenient for me);

Knit the belly in a circle to align the edges. SL-ST and cut the thread

Try the belly on the body while knitting, you may need to reduce the number of rows. Sew the belly to the body from the convex part. Sew so that there is approximately the same distance at the beginning of the body and the end.

See photo.

Side fins:

Knit the side fins (2 pieces) the same way as the top one, only at the end of the last row knit 3 shift loops, fold in half and knit together.

Tail:

Knit two identical pieces. Fasten the first one and

cut the thread, leave the second piece and connect the two together.

Connect two parts with SL-ST, knit in a circle, I got 26sc. It doesn’t matter here whether the quantity is one more or one less! Fill with holofiber. Next, decrease along the entire row. I got 12sc, knit two rows without changes, SL-ST, leave a thread for sewing. Do not fill it completely, so that you can put it on the body a little.

Sew the fin on top in the center, having previously filled it with holofiber. Put the tail on the body, secure with needles and sew in a circle.

Next, sew on the side fins. Adjust the distance as you like. I have sewn the beginning above the belly at a distance of 1 sc, and the end is slightly inclined, to the place where the body and belly are connected. The beginning is on the 14th row from the beginning of knitting.

Sew the eyes between the 9th and 10th rows at a distance of 14 sc. Adjust as you like.

Embroider the gills. Step back 1 sc above the side fin, move it a little to the side and the length is 4 sc. See the photo. You can adjust the quantity, height and placement at your discretion.

Tighten the mouth.

I took yarnart jeans thread. Pierce under the side fin, leave a piece to tighten and tie at the end, hide the threads. We bring the needle out between the 7th and 8th rows of the belly, retreating 1sc from the edge, forming an arc (reverse smile or rainbow shape), hold it with your finger, pierce the other side, retreating 1sc from the edge of the belly and bring the needle out under the fin, where we started. Hold the smile with your finger, and tighten both ends with your other hand. Next, tie a couple of knots, hide the threads in the body.
