Velvet Big Dinosaur Amigurumi Free Pattern

Note:

1. The toy is knitted in a spiral without lifting loops, unless otherwise indicated.

2. At the beginning of the row, use a marker or thread of a different color, which will help mark the first loop of each new row.

Necessary materials and tools:

1. Himalaya Dolphin baby – number 350 (light green) – 2 skeins – can be replaced with Yarn Art Dolce yarn, they are almost the same in thickness.

3. Yarn Art Jeans – number 67 (light yellow) – for a scarf.

4. Pecherka “Children’s novelty” – number 02 (black) – for the eye and mouth.

5. Hook number 3.75 (you can use number 4).

6. Hook number 1.5.

7. Holofiber or sintepuh.

8. Sewing thread of white or light green color – for stitching parts.

9. A long and ordinary needle.

10. Pins with beads – for pinning parts before sewing.

Scarf:

Yarn “Yarn art jeans”, hook number 1,5. 202 CH, we knit, starting from the fourth from the hook of the loop, HDC in each loop.

Assembly of parts and design:

Sew to the body legs. In turn, we pin the paws with pins to the body (one at a time), then sew on. In the course of sewing, add filler to the paws.

Then sew the tail:

Then we sew spikes to the body. I got 2 spikes on the tail, 1 on the back (between the tail and the neck), 2 on the neck. You can get two spikes between the tail and the neck, then you can sew two (this depends on where the tail is sewn). On the top of the neck you need to leave a little space for the scarf (if your dinosaur is in the scarf).

Now try on the head to the neck. If you want the head of the dinosaur to be pointing slightly down (like mine), then you need to knit additional rows on the neck. To do this, note 14 loops – from one side of the neck to the other along the back – as shown in the photo between the fingers:

We knit: 1 sl-st, 12 sc, sl-st, cut the thread, fasten.

We knit another row – we return to the place from which we started to knit the previous row, we retreat one loop to the right:

We knit: sl-st, 14 sc, sl-st, cut the thread, fasten.

Now on the head we mark 2 points that are useful to us for sewing to the body. The first point will be sewn in the center of the neck in front, the second in the center of the neck at the back. First, determine the bottom of the head (if you used a string as a marker, then we now need this marker line). We put 2 pins, one after 12 rows, the second after 21 rows:

Now sew the eyes. To begin, outline them with pins:

Now we will sew the pupil buttons, for this we need a large needle.

We introduce a needle with a white thread between the two pins, with which we marked the places for sewing the head to the neck, leave one edge to stick out, the second one is displayed in one of the eyes:

Sew on the button, put the needle into the second eye, sew the button, put the needle in the place where we left the second tip of the thread sticking out. We remove the needle, tie two threads in a knot, hide the threads inside the head.

Now outline the two pins with the mouth (start and end):

This is one of the pins for the mouth relative to the eye:

We introduce a needle with the thread “Children’s novelty” of black color at the bottom of the neck (in the same place where we introduced the white thread for the pupils), leave one of the ends of the thread sticking out, the second we draw at one of the pins with which we marked the mouth.

We embroider the mouth with a chain stitch along the row from one pin to another. We embroider the nostrils with the same thread. At the end, we bring the needle to the place where we have left to stick out the second tip of the thread. We remove the needle, tie a knot, hide the threads inside the head, more details on the photo:

Now we sew spikes to the head. If you have sewn two spikes between the tail and neck, then you can sew three, instead of four, on your head, or tie another spike.

If desired, we tint the cheeks with a pink or red pastel pencil.

It remains to sew the head to the neck. Insert a thread of contrasting color in front of the neck in the center:

We attach the same thread to the place of the pin, which marked the place of sewing to the body in front (make a stitch) and tie both ends of the thread with a bow.

We do the same thing behind the neck. Then we sew, we remove the threads during sewing. Add filler to the neck.

Your dinosaur is ready!
